Road Closure Information for Parade Weekend 2024

With the annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Road Race and Parade taking place this weekend, certain roads will be closed along race and parade routes.

Drivers traveling around Holyoke should take note of the following information:

 

Saturday, March 16th

Road Race

Downtown will be closed at the following locations

7am

  • High Street from Lyman Street to Dwight Street
  • Maple Street from Lyman Street to Dwight Street
  • Chestnut Street from Lyman Street to Dwight Street
  • Hampden Street from Elm Street to High Street

9am

  • Lyman Street from Chestnut Street to Front Street
  • Hampden Street from Elm Street to High Street

12:30 PM – Road Race course

  • Maple Street from Lyman Street to South Street
  • South Street from Maple Street to Northampton Street
  • Northampton Street from South Street to Westfield Road
  • Westfield Road from Northampton Street to Homestead Avenue
  • Homestead Avenue from Westfield Road to Cherry Street
  • Cherry Street from Homestead Avenue to Northampton Street
  • Beech Street from Northampton Street to Hampden Street
  • Hampden Street from Beech Street to Maple Street

The race will begin at the intersection of Maple and Lyman Streets at 1pm in a series of waves. Streets along the race route will open as the last runners proceed.

A shuttle bus will run between HCC Lots N, P, & O and the Mater Dolorosa parking lot at Lyman and Chestnut continuously from 9am to 5pm.

Sunday, March 17th

Parade

9:45am: I-91 Exit 14 (at Cherry Street near Homestead Avenue) off ramps will be closed

10:00 – Parade route

  • Beginning at Northampton Street and Whiting Farms Road (Kmart plaza)
  • Northampton Street from Whiting Farms Road to Beech Street
  • Beech Street from Northampton Street to Appleton Street
  • Appleton Street from Northampton Street to High Street
  • High Street from Appleton Street to Hampden Street

Parade will begin at 11:10am and take approximately three hours for the entire parade to begin moving. Streets along the parade route will open as the end of the parade proceeds.
