Tickets Available for Improv Fundraiser to Benefit Holyoke Public Schools Text Size

The Board of Directors for Friends of Holyoke Public Schools are pleased to announce the return of the Improv Asylum, the acclaimed improvisation comedy theater headquartered in Boston, to make its fourth annual appearance in Holyoke on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House to support the programs of the Friends of Holyoke Public Schools (FHPS), a non-profit organization.

The event is a partnership with the Log Cabin-Delaney House.  Major sponsors include Sullivan, Hayes & Quinn, LLC and Holyoke Pediatric Associates, LLP.  The event will include hors d’oeuvres and specialty food stations and a cash bar beginning at 7 p.m.  The show will begin at 9 p.m.

Last year, this event drew approximately 300 guests to see the amazing and hilarious Improv Asylum troop, while supporting a great cause.  According to Christian LaChapelle, president of FHPS, the Improv annual fund-raiser has allowed FHPS to promote creativity in education by providing several thousand dollars to the Summer Strings Program, early literacy initiatives proposed by classroom teachers, and special events benefitting students.

As resources increase in future years, the Friends’ partnership with teachers will result in additional support to Holyoke students at the classroom level.  Beyond its fundraising goals, the Improv event will serve to celebrate the role of teachers in strengthening the Holyoke Public Schools.

The Improv Asylum is chosen year after year because of its renown reputation as one of the country’s premiere improvisation companies, one that many area residents have enjoyed in Boston and at special public and corporate shows in New York, Chicago, and other major cities. Opened 15 years ago in Boston, Improv Asylum has performed more than 3,500 shows attended by a half million people.  Its appearance in Holyoke will be the first for Western Massachusetts.
