Holyoke City Council named Heather Egan as the next city solicitor in a unanimous vote last night. 

Heather Egan was born and raised in Holyoke and is a graduate of Holyoke High School. Heather began her college career at Front Range Community College in Littleton, Colorado, graduating at the top of her class with an Associate of Arts degree. From there, Heather continued her education at Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology. Subsequently, Heather moved to Portland, Maine, where she attended the University of Maine School of Law, earning her Juris Doctorate. During her third year of law school, Heather was a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, where she was a prisoner’s rights attorney.

During her second year of law school, Heather began working at the esteemed Portland, Maine law firm of Troubh Heisler, P.A. as a law clerk. Upon earning her law degree and passing the bar examination, Heather was offered a position and remained at Troubh Heisler, where she established her practice with a focus on civil litigation. Heather has extensive union negotiation experience, has jury and bench trial experience, and is also versed in all forms of alternative dispute resolution. Heather is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Maine, and in Federal District Court.
