Holyoke Innovation District Holds Third Annual Meeting Text Size

The Holyoke Innovation District (HID) held its 3rd Annual Meeting on March 4th, 2015 at 2:30 at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) located at 100 Bigelow Street in Holyoke, MA. Marcos Marerro of the City of Holyoke’s Office of Planning and Economic Development emceed the event. Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash addressed those in attendance about the state’s efforts to support the Innovation District. Other speakers included Jeff Hayden of Holyoke Community College; Mike Malone of UMass Amherst; Marcos Marrero of the Office of Planning and Economic Development in Holyoke; Farid Khelfaoui of SPARK Holyoke; Kathy Anderson of the Holyoke Chamber; Pamela Goldberg, CEO, MassTech; John Goodhue, Executive Director of the MGHPCC; Rick Sullivan, President, EDC of Western Mass; and Mayor Alex Morse.

The HID Annual Meeting is a review and celebration of accomplishments made over the past year as the District partners continue to work towards growing a thriving innovation economy in Holyoke and the region.

Highlights of the past year include groundbreaking on the passenger rail platform and Canalwalk, a commitment by Holyoke Community College to locate culinary and hospitality program in the Innovation District, and the expansion of Vertitech IT at Open Square. Ambitions for 2015 will also be announced.
