Mt. Tom Power Plant To Be Replaced By 17,000 Solar Panels Text Size

Massachusetts largest solar energy system is coming to Holyoke!

The former coal power plant is being transformed and replaced with 17,000 solar panels, making it the biggest solar farm in the Commonwealth.

The project will be known as Mt. Tom Energy Storage System and will strengthen HG&E’s grid while also helping keep rates stable for customers. This effort is made possible thanks to the collaboration between ENGIE North America, the City of Holyoke, and the Holyoke Gas and Electric Company.
