Hazards Mitigation Plan Text Size
In 2015, the City of Holyoke completed a Hazards Mitigations Plan in collaboration with the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. Mitigation as defined by The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters.
This 97-page document is a proactive process of pre-disaster planning to emphasize action that can be taken before a natural disaster occurs. The planning process is as important as the plan itself.
