August 2013 Civic Pride Award Winner: Kate O’Donnell Text Size
Mayor Alex B. Morse is excited to announce that this month’s Civic Pride Award Winner is Kate O’Donnell! Kate is the owner and an instructor at Paper City Fitness. Mayor Morse presented Kate with a commemorating plaque and proclamation at the Farmer’s Market on Thursday, August 29th at 12:30 p.m. just before she taught her Zumba class in front of City Hall.
The Civic Pride Award, originally started by former Mayor Michael J. Sullivan, recognizes citizens who have made unique and meaningful contributions to the community. The Mayor recommends that people take an active role in nominating candidates.

Kate O’Donnell is the owner and founder of Paper City Fitness, where she brings health and wellness out of the gym and into the community. She breaks the traditional barriers surrounding exercise and commits to providing a Zumba class that is welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Kate has taught many different types of fitness classes including Pilates, Boot Camps, Strength and Sculpt/Tone. Her wide variety of exercise classes are in high demand throughout the City of Holyoke. Her classes have been featured at community events, farmer’s markets and even in the Holyoke Public Schools. Her involvement in Let’s Move Holyoke! has promoted the message of a healthy lifestyle for all of Holyoke’s families.
Kate’s motivational words have changed many lives around her. “Energetic,” “Encouraging,” “Challenging,” “Supportive” and “Fun” are some of the words that you hear when speaking about Kate.
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Kate is the mother to three beautiful children: Erin, Molly and Ryan. Kate gives a new meaning to the word “success” and we are so proud to present her with this award!
