Soldiers Memorial December 2023 Meeting

Accepted minutes of October 10th meeting

Patriotic Committee Veterans Day event.  Luce Rivera and Wayne Klinger were on the committee.  Lady announced the event.  Folks on stage cannot hear announcements.  Need to send Meg McGrath Smith details on CPA funding for sound system.  We can also request it from the State via our state representative.  Donny will write up request with help from Rick Purcell.  

Need to fix stage lights.  DPW needs to fix lights in the hall.  Need to fix asbestos exposure in craw space before we can replace lights.

Farmers Market presentation.   Would like to stay at War Memorial.  Starts December 2nd from 10am to 2pm on every other Saturday for nine days.  Might do it in the entrance way only to make it less spread out.  Maybe partition the main hall to make it smaller.  Commissioners should sign up in advance to open and close the building for the market.  Normally they use the next Saturday if events prevent the building opening.  We will need notice to reschedule in order that we can insure against conflicts.  Food vendors should be positioned near the exit to the alleyway.

Walk with a Doc promotion.  Dr. Melvin Morales.  Post on city calendar.  Would like to use the War Memorial for their walk when weather does not permit it to be outdoors.  Starting November 29th from noon to 1pm until spring when they can be outdoors again.  Currently fifteen participants.  

Parks and Recreation would like to move their offices to the War Memorial building.  Need to work out what they need.  Window air conditioners, etc.. Likely use a room on the second floor.  Room 203a is DAV.  Room 203b Soldiers Commission.  Room 207 American Legion (possibly).  Will write letter and seek a meeting time with Parks & Recreation.  Send letter by November 20th.  Tuesday or Thursday after Thanksgiving.

War Memorial Collaboration Committee (veterans events). Michael Falcetti, Olivia Mausel, Wayne Klinger, Penny Martel, Randy Malek.

Need Calendar of Events for the Soldiers Memorial Commission.  St Pauls Lunch on Thursdays, Farmers Market and Senior Walk.
