MEETING NOTES:

HOLYOKE LOCAL CULTURAL COUNCIL               January 8, 2024

Present: Anne Thalheimer, Navae Rodriguez, Mark Dunlap, Tim Damon.

Absent: Chris Dunay, Gloria Caballero, Kocayne Givner

Grantee communications were reviewed.

Issues with the Performance Project were resolved. Still waiting for paperwork for their 2023 grant.

Thank you letters were received from the Dinosaurs in the Pioneer Valley project, Holyoke Merry Go Round Party in the Park, and from the Afro-Caribbean History and Culture project.

Treasurer’s Report- There are several as yet unclaimed grants from 2023. The paperwork for the Pamela Means concert was just received. Navae will confirm in MUNIS that these grants are unclaimed.

Extension and venue change requests- Two requests were received from Eileen Crosby at the Holyoke Public Library. The council could not approve the request for $360 awarded in 2022 as the deadline to claim has  passed.. Following discussion, Mark moved to grant the extension of $400 for “School Visits to the History Room” until May 31 of this year. All approved.

Navae moved to approve an extension of the Holyoke Farmers Market grant. All approved.

Also approved was an extension for the Performance Project- “Mother Tongue” (2023 grant cycle) while they applied for a vendor ID number.                                                                                      A venue change request was received from the Afro-Caribbean History and Culture Project from Wistariahurst to Holyoke Media. Following discussion and concerns about the smaller venue, the motion was approved with hopes the performance could be recorded.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10.
