Winter Parking Ban
The City of Holyoke, Department of Public Works, has issued a regular Winter Parking Ban to be in effect from:
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8 AT 6:00 P.M. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
THERE WILL BE NO PARKING ON THE ODD SIDE OF THE STREET UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED
AND NO PARKING ON CUL-DE-SACS

Eversource to Begin Transmission Work in Holyoke and Surrounding Communities

This month, Eversource will begin transmission work in Holyoke, Chicopee, and South Hadley, which includes replacement of 10 lattice structures with new steel structures and installation of a new optical grounding wire (OPGW) at the top of all structures within the right-of-way.

The OPGW will be installed between Mt. Tom Substation in Holyoke and the Fairmont Substation in Chicopee. There is one structure being replaced in Holyoke, seven in South Hadley, and two in Chicopee. Of note, the work will involve crossing the CT River from Holyoke into South Hadley as well as crossing over Route 202 in South Hadley.

The following outlines the current schedule of work, subject to change:

  • OPGW Installation and Drilling for the new structures: Summer of 2022 through early Fall 2022
  • Construction of New Structures, reconductoring, and additional OPGW Installation:  Mid Fall 2022 through early 2023
  • Restoration:  Spring 2023

Eversource has conducted outreach to abutting property owners to and will continue to communicate with property owners and respond to any concerns throughout the duration of the work.
