Public Safety Day Text Size
Event takes place on June 22, 2013 at 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM
Holyoke High School, 500 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA
The purpose of “Public Safety Day” is to showcase and recognize the resources available to the citizens of Holyoke in the event of a public emergency such as a natural disaster or other emergency situation. The event is also the perfect opportunity to let children play, discover and learn about Holyoke public safety. There will be many of Holyoke’s Public Safety Departments participating in this event such as the Holyoke Fire Dept, Holyoke Police Dept, Holyoke Auxiliary Police, Department of Public Works, Board of Health, Holyoke Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
There are fun and educational events scheduled for this day and they include, many public safety demonstrations throughout the day such as the Fire department demonstrating the “Jaws of Life,” Freddie the Fire Truck, Fire Prevention, a fire truck display, a police cruiser display, the new Community Policing Unit, traffic unit, and the police will also be giving away Kids I.D. Kits to parents that attend. There will also be equipment demonstrations by the DPW and teen pregnancy and other public health information from the Board of Health and much, much more!
