Notice of Committee Meeting
There will be a regular meeting of the
City Council and the School Committee
At City Hall in the Council Chamber, Thursday Feb. 8th 7:00PM

Item 1: Acceptance of previous meeting minutes
Item 2: Roman: Ordered that the City chief of Police appear before the Joint Committee of the City Council and School Committee and City Council and provided job description, qualification needed and selection process for the School Resources Officers of the Holyoke Public Schools.
item 3: Roman: Ordered that the Holyoke Police department appear before the joint Committee of the School committee and City Council and provided job description, qualifications needed, and selection process for the School Resource Officers of the Holyoke Public Schools.
Item 4: Roman 9/2/17: Ordered that the Holyoke Superintendent Dr. Steven Zrike attended a Joint committee of the City Council and school Committee and present an update on the benchmarks for the turn around plan and or an updated turn around plan report.
Item 5 Roman 12/19/17: Ordered that the City approve the following contract for shared services for a Food Services Director with the City of Springfield, to be paid for by the School Department out of its budget. Shared director cost will be $30,000 which will be paid to the City of Springfield, that will house the Food Services Director for both districts.
Item 6: Roman 9/22/17: ordered, ordered that all the school Department submit a 2017 School year break down report of all teaching staff in the Holyoke public school system and what cities reside at, and a second report on the demographic break down of 20017 teaching staff. Furthermore that school department provides a separate list of the school Systems Leadership team and what cities they reside in.
Leadership Team includes:
-Superintendent of schools, Chief Academic Officer, Chief of Strategy and Turnaround, Chief of Family & Community Engagement, Chief Talent Officer, Chief of Pupil Services, Chief Finance & Operations officer, Director of Secondary Education & Pathways, and Executive Director of Schools.
Item 7: Roman 9/22/17: ordered that the Holyoke City Councilor adopt a resolution calling on state and federal education policy makers to adopt a moratorium on the use of standardized tests to determine district finding and teaching salaries so that educators, parents and other members of our communities can work together to develop authentic assessment systems that allow more time for educators to teach and better prepare students for lifelong learning.
Item 8: McGee 9/22/17: ordered, that the school dept install new exhaust doors/fans in the kitchen and gym at EN White School.
Item 9: Lebron-Martinez 2/6/18: In order to meet the MSBA deadline of March 20th for City Council approval of the middle school project’s Preliminary Design Phase, the Joint Committee of the City Council & School Committee shall invite in members of the School Building Committee, the OPM, Pinck&Co., and the architect, Jones Whitsett, for a presentation.
