Holyoke “Barks” & Recreation’s 3rd Annual Dog Show Text Size

The Holyoke  Parks “Barks” & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that on Sunday, February 9, 2014 they will be sponsoring the City’s 3rd Annual Dog Show as part of The Winter Carnival.  Mayor Alex B. Morse will be joining forces with Representative Aaron Vega as they host this friendly competition in Holyoke High School’s gymnasium.

Members of the Holyoke Kennel Club will be doing a “Safety Around Dogs Program” prior to the competition. After their show, the Kennel Club will welcome visitors to meet and pet their dogs.  Coloring books and bookmarks will also be distributed by the Holyoke Kennel Club.

All area dog owners are welcome to participate. Registration forms will be available at the Parks & Recreation Department on January 8th

The categories of competition are:  Most Fashionable, Best Dog Trick, Best Mystery Mutt, Fastest Kisser, Best Smile, Dog & Owner Look Alike, Fastest Tail Wagger, Best Fur/Hair Cutest, Walks with an Attitude and *Best in Show*

All dogs must be licensed and accompanied by people who are 14 or older.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded by a panel of 3 judges in each category.  

The registration fee is $10.00 per dog.  Each participant is limited to compete in 2 categories.  Owners are responsible to clean up after their dogs.  Humans are welcome to attend this event, free of charge. The maximum number of participants is 25 per category.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
