There will be a regular meeting of the Committee on

Finance

 At City Hall in the Council Chamber, on Wed.  November 28th, 2018 at 5:30pm

Agenda:

Item 1: Sullivan/McGee 11/7/18: Order:  That bond counsel be invited in to discuss effects and options available in bonding for two new middle schools. The possibilities of longer term bonding, early retirement options, and alternatives to a debt exclusion need to be explored.

Item 2: Communication from City Auditor dated 9/19/2018 RE: City Bonds

Item 3: Sullivan/McGee: Order:  That the School Department prepare a summary of potential savings (or additional costs) associated with the addition of two new middle schools.  Also, what other grants may be available and what actions are being taken.

 

Item 4: Sullivan 11/7/18: Order:  That the City Assessor provide an opinion on the effect of two new middle schools on property values. The addition of new middle schools will make Holyoke a more desirable place to raise a family.

 

Item 5: Communication from City Assessors dated 11/2/18: RE: correspondence from the Dept. of Revenue.

 

Item 6: McGiverin 11/20/18: Ordered that in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44 Sec. 53A, the City Council hereby accepts the provisions of the “GOVERNOR’S LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY” grant and authorizes the establishment of a Fund or other method appropriate for the accounting of the receipts and expenditures of all resources associated with the administration of said grant.

 

Item 7: McGiverin 11/20/18: Ordered that in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44 Sec. 53A, the City Council hereby accepts the provisions of the “FY18 Strategies for Policing Initiative ” grant and authorizes the establishment of a Fund or other method appropriate for the accounting of the receipts and expenditures of all resources associated with the administration of said grant

 

Item 8: McGiverin 11/20/18: that in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44 Sec. 53A, the City Council hereby accepts the provisions of the “Healthy Summer Youth Jobs 2018” grant and authorizes the establishment of a Fund or other method appropriate for the accounting of the receipts and expenditures of all resources associated with the administration of said grant.
