Dedication of Softball Diamond in Honor of Rubin H. Urbina Text Size

The Holyoke Parks & Recreation Commissioners cordially invite all members of the public to attend a brief dedication ceremony on Saturday, October 11, 2014,  3:00 pm at McNally Field, located behind Kelly School. The 60′ softball diamond will be dedicated in the name of Mr. Rubin H. Urbina. A bronze plaque commemorating the dedication will be unveiled. 

Mr. Urbina helped to create La Liga Hispano-Americana/the Spanish American Softball League in 1970 and the Spanish American Club in 1971.  Mr. Urbina worked as an umpire for adult softball leagues for over 30 years while being a Holyoke resident for 50 years.  He is married to Gloria Martinez, and has three children and seven grandchildren.   From 1957 – 1959, Mr. Urbina served in the United Sates Army.
