State COVID-19 tracking map adds 2 Western Massachusetts communities, Granby and Holyoke, to ‘extremely high risk’ category

Two Western Massachusetts communities were put into an “extremely high-risk” category on a map the state released this week tracking coronavirus cases and transmission rates across the commonwealth.

The color-coded map, which was updated Wednesday, highlights community-by-community threat levels and found that the town of Granby in Hampshire County and the city of Holyoke in Hampden County were two of 11 municipalities in the state with the highest risks of contracting the virus.  Read the full story here:


Free COVID Testing Available in Springfield and Agawam Extended Until Sept 12

Citing COVID-19 clusters, compliance violations, Massachusetts postpones second step of Phase 3 reopening ‘indefinitely,’ Gov. Charlie Baker says

Citing recent large parties that fly in the face of the COVID-19 restrictions, Gov. Charlie Baker said Friday Massachusetts will indefinitely postpone entering the second step of Phase 3.

The Republican governor said Friday that the state would not only postpone this segment of the reopening but also ramp up enforcement, creating a multi-agency coalition with police officials to crack down on violations of the COVID-19 regulations that are supposed to limit community transmissions.  Read the full story here:

Testing has a turnaround time of 6-10 days and many cases are being clinically diagnosed (no testing or reporting involved). All are advised to behave as though they are carriers of Covid-19.
