Antioch Food Waste Study

The City of Holyoke is partnering with graduate students at Antioch University to create a plan for reducing municipal food waste. The first stage in this process is an effort to understand the current food waste stream of Holyoke’s grocery stores. Recommendations for food waste reduction will follow the EPA’s food recovery hierarchy. The goals of this project are to reduce city-wide food waste, increase food redistribution to community kitchens, food banks, and other food redistribution centers. 

 

How to get involved: we are looking for grocery stores and bodegas/corner stores who want to participate in a food waste characterization study. For more information, contact one of the project partners below.
