Special Election set for State Senator representing the 2nd Hampden & Hampshire District Text Size

On Monday, August 5th State Senator Michael Knapik announced his resignation from the Massachusetts State Senate for a new position as Westfield State University’s Executive Director of University Advancement.

Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Galvin has announced that the special election will be on November 5, with a primary on October 8. To be on the ballot, all candidates must submit their paperwork to local officials by August 27 and the state by September 3. Candidates must obtain three hundred certified signatures.

The vacated seat represents the 2nd Hampden and Hampshire District, which includes all of Westfield, Holyoke, Agawam, Southwick, Montgomery, Russell, Granville, Tolland, Easthampton, and Southampton, and four precints in Chicopee.
