City of Holyoke to Celebrate Pride Month with Flag Raising and March

HOLYOKE – Mayor Alex B. Morse invites the community to attend The 3rd Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Friday, June 6 at 4:00PM outside of City Hall. The event supports Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month to encourage and promote diversity, tolerance and inclusiveness throughout the City of Holyoke.

Prior to the flag raising, Holyoke’s first “Pride March” will begin at 3:30PM from the United Congregational Church on 300 Appleton Street, continuing down High Street to finish in front of City Hall for the start of the flag raising.  City officials, youth groups, and faith leaders are invited to attend the march and the flag raising, with a light reception to follow in the Mayor’s Office.

Communities across the Commonwealth and country recognize the month of June as LGBT Pride Month, and in Holyoke there will be several opportunities to celebrate. The public is also invited to attend Pride Family Day on Sunday, June 8 at Heritage State Park from 12-4PM to enjoy half priced tickets at the Holyoke Merry Go Round and Children’s Museum.
