Calling all Holyokers!!

Holyoke is celebrating the 1900 dam and the three levels of canals during a special event Saturday,  May 14th- Infrastructure Day.  Currently some of those who are coordinating this major event to celebrate the engineering marvels are:

  • The Boston Society of Civil Engineers
  • Holyoke Historical Commission
  • Holyoke Gas and Electric
  • Holyoke Public Schools
  • Children’s Museum
  • Girl Scouts of Central and Western Mass
  • Heritage Park
  • Connecticut River Watershed Council
  • Mass Green High Performance Computing Center
  • Holyoke History Room and others

These resources are often overlooked and sometimes seen as outdated, whereas they are extraordinary and unique to this city and still play a major role in Holyoke’s infrastructure.

This one-day event will highlight displays and student competitions centered around the STEM curriculum…Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

One central theme will be “Holyoke- Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.”

We are still in the early planning stages so for more information, contact the Holyoke Historical Commission at 413-322-5634
