Check out the Holyoke Early Literacy Website! Text Size

Mayor Alex Morse and Early Literacy Coordinator Andrew Melendez are happy to announce that the website for Holyoke’s Early Learning Initiative is now online at holyokereads.com. The initiative’s goal is to have 85% of the Holyoke Public Schools’ 3rd grade students reading at a proficient level by 2014.

The site features details about upcoming events, resources for community members, media releases and contact information. The ELI’s current program, Reading is Power: Leer es Poder, “is focused on establishing a city-wide understanding of the importance of literacy and a commitment to ensure all children have this critical foundational skill.” The program is led by Mayor Alex Morse, Superintendent Dr. Sergio Paez and the Holyoke School Committee and coordinated by Andrew Melendez.
