Autism Awareness Month Text Size

HOLYOKE – Mayor Alex Morse and City Treasurer Jon D. Lumbra have once again teamed up to participate in the “Light it Up Blue” campaign, in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.  During the month of April, City Hall will be illuminated in blue to promote Autism awareness.

The City of Holyoke is one of the several municipalities in the area who have participated in the Light it Up Blue campaign the past several years. According to their website (autismspeaks.org) every April 2, Autism Speaks celebrates Light It Up Blue, along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day.

The Autism Speaks website describes Light It Up Blue as “a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue.”
