Tour of Upper High Street , Holyoke, MA. 1:00 P.M. Meet at City Hall Dwight Street entrance
Members of the Historical Commission will walk you through the history of early Holyoke starting at City Hall and continuing north along High Street to Lyman St. past Mater Dolorosa Church and south on Maple Street to Hampton Park and returning to City Hall. High Street and upper High Street is on the National Register of Historic Places. Prospect Park will also be included, time and weather permitting.
Some of the historically significant buildings include The Prew Building, the Annex, The Steiger’s Block, Holyoke Health Care Center, The Ball Block, Davignon’s Jewelers, the Caledonian, The Triangle, the Warsaw, the Gallaudet Block, Bonvouloir’s Block, Wrights Block, J. Fuller Building, Mark’s Paints, the Row houses on Lyman, Czelusniak’s Funeral Home, not to mention the former Holyoke Catholic High School being renovated and the Maple Street Fire Station, and many many more. (time: approx 1:30- 2:00 hours)
Wear comfortable shoes, and appropriate clothes for the weather.
