RECOMMENDATION: That the School Committee vote to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation (9-22-14) to change the wording on page 5 (of the building rental policy) as follows: The Holyoke School Committee Superintendent or designee reserves the right to cancel this contract at any time for failure to observe any of the rules delineated herein.

RECOMMENDATION: That the School Committee vote to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation (9-22-14) to change (page 1) the word fields to facilities.

RECOMMENDATION: That the School Committee vote to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation (10-20-14)to include the wording, Superintendent or designee, (in place of Superintendent) consistently throughout the policy.

RECOMMENDATION: That the School Committee vote to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation (10-20-14) to (request that administration) develop a fee schedule with time blocks, to include facility usage, utilities, and custodian that can be reviewed at the next subcommittee meeting. (This request has been completed.)

RECOMMENDATION: That the School Committee vote to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation (11-3-14) to approve the subcommittee’s recommendation and accept he fee schedule proposed by administration (see page .

  • Introduced by Committee member John Brunelle, that the School Committee receive information about domestic violence training / healthy relationships that we are providing to high school students.
  • Introduced by Committee member John Brunelle, that the windows at McMahon School be repaired or replaced properly; that the teachers in classrooms at McMahon School with windows that are not reachable be given the proper equipment to open and close the windows instead of having to stand on chairs or heating systems.
  • Introduced by Committee member John Brunelle, that the School Department will be closed when City Hall is closed for inclement weather and when the Mayor closes for a holiday.

  1. EXECUTIVE SESSION
  • To go into Executive Session to conduct collective bargaining sessions with HTA (arbitration), to discuss strategy relative to litigation (A.Morales) and to discuss negotiations related to Level 5, Morgan School, [not] to return to open session.

 

The listing of matters are those reasonably anticipated by the Chair which may be discussed at the meeting. Not all items listed may in fact be discussed and other items not listed may also be brought up for discussion to the extent permitted by law.

 

*The Holyoke Public Schools makes available a public discussion period for persons in the audience to address the Committee on specific agenda items. In order to hear as many speakers as possible, the Committee asks individuals to continue their remarks to two (2) minutes. Any person wishing to submit longer testimony should give copies to the Superintendent before the meeting so that it may be distributed to Committee members. The speaker can then summarize this testimony at the meeting within the two (2) minute time period. Persons wishing to speak should register with the Superintendent immediately before the meeting begins. Individuals who request specific items to be included on the Committee’s agenda should mail a written request fifteen (15) days in advance of a Committee meeting date to the Superintendent of Schools, 57 Suffolk Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
