Rail Platform Design Meeting Text Size

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Holyoke Transportation Center, Room 402-403, to show the current status of the Passenger Rail platform design and hear feedback from the community. The public in encouraged to attend and hear a presentation from the consultant, Michael Baker Engineering, Inc., followed by a question and feedback period.
Construction of the rail platform is planned for this year on the southeast corner of Main and Dwight Streets and will host passenger rail service North to Vermont and South to New York City and beyond. Amtrak service is expected to begin in the Spring of 2014. The design of the platform is being funded by a HUD regional sustainable communities grant received through the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. The construction will be funded by a $2 million MassWorks Infrastructure grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Once up and running, the train platform will be a catalyst for development as it will better connect Center City Holyoke to the Region.
