Notice of Committee Meeting
There will be a regular meeting of the Committee on
Public Service

At City Hall in the Council Chamber, on Wednesday  April 12th at 6:30PM
Per order of the Chair: James Leahy 

Item 1: Approval of previous meeting minutes

Item 2: Reappointment of Teresa Shepard as the Director of Parks and Recreation Department

Item 3: McGee 11/17/15: Ordered that the Legal Dept. and Park and Rec dept. look into establishing a community garden at Morgan park.

Item 3: Order:  that the Personnel director appear to the city council to discuss the hiring practices that took place for the Purchasing Director and the floating clerk. Please provide all job postings for these positions, starting dates, any written contracts, all resumes received for these positions and any and all benefits granted for these positions add interview times and dates for these positions as well

Item 4: Leahy 9/21/17: Ordered the War Memorial Commissioners, Commanders of the 325 and 351 VFW’s and LT. Walsh from the Soldiers Home convene a meeting in the with the Public Service Committee to discuss the funding and recting of a memorial to the victims of 9/11 so that the City can honor them.

Item 5: Ordered that the City Council invite MIFA to give an update on their current projects including the update with the Victory Theater Development

Item 6: Bartley 9/15/15: Order:  The City of Holyoke develops and publishes a “good neighbor handbook” that includes information to help the public better access its government.  It should include, at a minimum, information concerning licenses, ordinances, services and contacts.  The handbook should be developed in committee, with each city department providing input, and then adopted by the city council.  We should set a goal of producing this handbook by the spring of 2016. It should the city’s goal to provide an update every 2 years.
