·       Morgan School HVAC System

RECOMMENDATION:  Resolved: Having convened in an open meeting on January 7, 2014, the Holyoke School Committee, in accordance with City Charter, By-Laws and Ordinances, has voted to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest Form dated January 10, 2014, for the E.N. White School located at 1 Jefferson Street, which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority category(s) for which an application may be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future.  Priority 5: Replacement or modernization of school boilers, heating and ventilations systems, to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs in a school facility and hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of Interest Form, the Massachusetts School Building Authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or any other funding commitment from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or commits the City/School District to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

RECOMMENDATION: Resolved: Having convened in an open meeting on January 7, 2014, the Holyoke School Committee, in accordance with City Charter, By-Laws and Ordinances, has voted to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest Form dated January 10, 2014, for the Kelly School located at 216 West Street, which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority category(s) for which an application may be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future.  Priority 5: Replacement or modernization of school boilers, heating and ventilations systems, to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs in a school facility and hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of Interest Form, the Massachusetts School Building Authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or any other funding commitment from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or commits the City/School District to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

·       Donation from Link to Libraries for Tablets for Literacy Technology for Kelly School (pages __)

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to receive the donation from Links to Libraries for tablets for literacy technology for Kelly School.

·       Order

Submitted by Committee member John Brunelle, that administration provide a breakdown of the percentage of funds spent on direct student services and on administrative costs, and the total dollar amount spent for each area. 

·       City Treasurer, Jon Lumbra – Insurance Advisory Committee

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to receive the communication from Treasurer Lumbra regarding the Insurance Advisory Committee.

·       Travel Requests

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to approve the travel requests.

c.      Holyoke Teachers Association Memorandum of Agreement

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to approve the Memorandum of Agreement with the Holyoke Teachers Association.

                    RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to receive and accept the communication.

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to receive the retirements.

RECOMMENDATION:  That the School Committee vote to receive the resignations.

a.    To go into Executive Session to conduct strategy with respect to collective bargaining (all units)  and update on litigation [not] to return to regular session.
