Mayor Alex B. Morse is pleased to announce that the City of Holyoke will participate in a new national program called “Plant Something Day.” On May 15th at 2:30 p.m. Mayor Morse, State Representative Aaron Vega, and other local officials will be participating in a tree planting ceremony at the Holyoke Senior Center, located at 291 Pine Street in Holyoke. The planting of the 11 trees will be done courtesy of the Holyoke-based company, Mountain View Landscaping.

According the Plant Something Massachusetts Website, “On May 15, people in cities and towns all over Massachusetts will plant something—anything—to share the fun of planting.” Plant Something Massachusetts consists of “professional environmental horticulturists – people who grow, care for, design and install plantings and landscapes in your community.”

“Having Holyoke be part of this statewide initiative to expand green space and improve outdoor quality of life is a great opportunity. Steve Corrigan and his employees at Mountain View should be commended for making this happen,” said State Representative Aaron Vega.

“Plant Something Day is a great example of local government and businesses coming together to make Holyoke a greener community,” commented Mayor Alex Morse.
