1. New Commission Business

  1. Appointment of Representative to the Community Preservation Act Committee 
  2. Process: Conservation Commission designates one Commission member for a three year term 
  3. Responsibilities: Serve on the CPC as the Commission develops a plan, adopts bylaws, creates an application process, reviews applications according to CPC plan, runs public meetings, and makes a recommendation to City Council and the Mayor on how to allocate CPC funds according to the following three categories (Open Space and Recreation, Housing, Historic Preservation)

2. Beaver Management Plan

  1. Location: Upper Broad Brook 
  2. Process: Resolution of human/beaver conflicts within the watershed to prevent loss of habitat and property damage
  3. Action: Payment and annual maintenance contract; reaching out to Masswildlife

3. Returning Commission Business (Eligible commission members are B. Bowler, E. Bernstein, M. Dodge, J. Horan)

  1. Notice of Intent: DEP 186-0264
  2. Applicant: HWP Company and Eversource
  3. Representative: Simon Hildt, Stantec
  4. Location: Connecticut River, downstream from Hadley Falls Dam
  5. Description: Notice of Intent filed by Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. on behalf of HWP Company, an Eversource Company, for the placement of approximately 26,239 square feet of permanent impacts to Land Under Waterbodies and Waterways and 260 s.f. of temporary impacts to the same to permit the placement of stone caps in the Connecticut River to cover existing tar patches in the river with access and upland staging occurring in Chicopee. Based upon the MA WPA performance standards, the Applicant has requested that this project be treated as a limited project, specifically the remediation of hazardous waste as defined in 310 CMR 10.53 (3)(q).
