Holyoke Celebrates National Day of Prayer Text Size

Mayor Alex B. Morse will be holding a special ceremony in front of Holyoke City Hall on Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in honor of the National Day of Prayer. Please join representatives from our local churches and congregations who will also be participating by leading prayers for our local officials, national leaders and our community.
The National Day of Prayer began in 1775, when the Continental Congress designated a time for prayer while forming the new nation. In 1952, Congress established the National Day of Prayer as an annual event and was signed into law by President Truman. National Day of Prayer was established as the first Thursday of May each year.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be May 9th. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
