Do you need a guide to navigating the ever-expanding universe of online genealogical research? Or need advice on where to look next for missing information? Or perhaps you want to just continue your research in the company of other family historians? Drop in at the Library’s new Genealogy Labs to get one-on-one assistance from professional genealogist Hillary Schau.

In addition to helping with research, Hillary can get you started with RootsMagic, a powerful low-to-no cost software program that allows you to organize your research on your own computer.
These sessions takes place in the Computer Classroom on the Third Floor of the Holyoke Public Library the last two Wednesdays of every month from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, February – May (4:00-6:00 PM in June).  The Library provides free access to Ancestry Library Edition, RootsMagic, and, through the end of March only, Fold3, a powerful database of military records.  Just drop in–no pre-registration needed!

Free and open to anyone interested in family history research. Twelve workstations available. Printing is $.10 per page.  You will need a library card to use a computer workstation for genealogical research.

Hillary Schau has been helping people with their research and individual brick walls for many years. She is a graduate of the Boston University Genealogical Research Certificate Program and volunteers at the Family Search Affiliate Library at the Chicopee Library.
