Hawks Over Mt Tom will be returning to Mt Tom State Reservation this September featuring a celebration of the Annual Hawk Migration.

Adults and Families are invited to please join us at Mt Tom State Reservation’s Visitor Center and Playground, September 17th for sharing, education and fun. Children’s activities include games, face masks, and coloring.

Marsha Wilson, naturalist educator and her husband Mark, a wildlife photographer, will share their owls and their up close experiences with these wonderful birds of prey. Tom Ricardi will share his rehabilitated hawks and eagles from North America and beyond.

Mt Tom is the premier hawk watching and monitoring areas in New England. Goat Peak Lookout offers a spectacular view of the Connecticut River Valley which offers readily available food, water and rising thermal breezes which allow these magnificent birds a means south with minimal energy expenditure.

All of the owls and hawks in the programs have been rescued and rehabilitated but their disabilities prevent them from fully function in the wild. These raptors receive individualized nutrition and care from rehabilitators Marsha Wilson and Tom Ricardi. The release of a rehabilitated bird is a treat for the entire family.

The program is sponsored and presented by local business and non-profits working together with Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and Mt Tom State Reservation.
