General Statement of what we do...

The Sealer of Weights and Measures tests and certifies weighing and measuring of devices used commercially in the City of Holyoke. He inspects packaged and bulk commodities and materials for conformance with applicable standards; enforces all packaging, labeling, and licensing regulations. He preserves and maintains all municipal standards of mass, volume, and length, including field standard as required by state law and submits Annual Report as required by the state.

Specifically the Sealer of Weights and Measures enforces MGL chapter 98  and the Consumer Merchant Protection Act, Chapter 295 (1998). The Sealer guarantees accuracy of regulated devices through random and mandatory annual inspections and regulatory tests and procedures where all devices are inspected for accuracy and completeness.
