COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

The City of Holyoke expects to receive $1,328,319 of CDBG Funds this year from the U.S. Department of HUD. These funds may be used for a wide range of activities that improve housing, the living environment and economic opportunities, primarily for low and moderate-income persons.  The allocation of these funds to specific projects begins in December when proposals are solicited by the Office for Community Development (OCD).  The OCD, followed by the Citizens Advisory Council, the Mayor and the City Council, review the proposals and make funding recommendations.  It remains the Mayor's responsibility to make final award decisions and to submit the allocation plan to HUD.  The projects begin on July 1st.

The table below lists the proposals that are being considered and will report the recommendations of the entities mentioned above.  Questions or comments on the CDBG program or on the uses of program funds may be directed to the Office for Community Development located in the City Hall Annex.  Phone: 322-5610
